Not many people know the origin of the name California. It comes from a Queen Calafia, who ruled black Amazons long time ago on the land which was on the territory of the current state California.
Right now, California is the 3-rd largest state in U.S. and is also referred as “Golden State”. The economy of California is the largest in U.S. and would be #9 in the whole world if California State would count as a country. Although because of the current recession, its unemployment rate is 12.7% which is 5th in the nation.
There are 37 million people living in sunny California which also marks #1 in the whole 50 States. Not to mention that all the Hollywood stars live in this State, which kinda helps to economy by paying taxes. Another portion of the money comes from the higher prices on real estate.
But that’s not the only reason why Golden State is so wealthy. Every year millions of people from other states and other countries rush to see the gorgeous nature, beautiful beaches in Malibu and tons of attractions in Hollywood.
